The complexity and rapidly changing nature of modern microelectronics
design makes it technically difficult and prohibitively expensive for many
individual universities and research institutes to keep up date with the
latest electronics design tools and methodologies.
The Microelectronics Support Centre offers European academia a wide
range of services which have been designed to help academic institutes
adopt the latest design methods available to industry and to pioneer new
techniques for the future through their research. These services include
technical consultancy, the provision of design flow based training courses and access to industry leading design tools
through the Centre's Europractice Software Service.
To support the range of different microelectronics applications
being used by European academia we offer these services for a wide range of
different industry leading tool packages including:
- Digital, analogue and mixed-signal system design
- High-level design and system-on-a-chip (SoC & SoPC)
- Embedded systems (hardware/software co-design)
- ESL tools, methodologies and access to IP blocks
- System design, for implementation in:
- ASIC and FPGA
- Printed Circuit Boards (PCB)
- System-in-Package (SiP)
- Microsystems, MEMS and Microfluidics
- Technology CAD (TCAD)
- Synchronous and Asnychronous design methodologies
We offer support through two key services:
The Europractice Service
EUROPRACTICE is an EC
initiative to provide European academic institutions with state of the
art Design Tools, Programmable Platforms and access to IC fabrication
technologies. This enables academia to easily adopt new design
techniques and technologies in their research and training programmes
and produce highly trained graduates for European industry. We manage
the Europractice Design Tool and Programmable Platform
service.
Microelectronics Support Centre Training Courses
We offer a number
of training courses
covering key microelectronic technologies. These courses focus on
design methodologies, providing a solid foundation in understanding
the key steps required in designing and implementing your project,
whilst also giving you the opportunity to update your skills on the
latest versions of design tools.
